OVERVIEW
Dare you to be Big and Bold
One of the most dominant factors overshadowing and hindering the perfect image of the Jamaican society is poverty. However, the island's indigenous music defines Jamaica in a positive manner and as artistes we contribute to its musical achievement and are among some of the most influential in local society. A few of us artistes attempt to give back to Jamaica by using our talent and influence to secure donations for the disenfranchised with the hope of making things better.

As an artiste, ever since achieving success with such hits as, "It Wasn't Me" and "Angel", I vowed to always try wherever possible, to contribute to the less fortunate of Jamaica. A personal experience opened my eyes to the obstacles children faced with receiving proper medical care in Jamaica, and I have since adopted the Bustamante Hospital for Children making donations of medical equipment where I could, which the hospital lacked for several years. All in hopes of helping Bustamante operate more efficiently and save precious lives. Additionally, I have staged annual Christmas treats for the children where I visit all the wards, bearing gifts with Santa in tow. Ending with a show in the park with performances by other artistes who I've invited to entertain the children (those who can leave their beds) and the doctors, nurses and other staff.

On January 3, 2009, I would like to formally introduce a sustainable event that will garner sufficient funds to donate to the Bustamante Hospital for Children. This event will be the first of my foundation, which was recently established. The proposed event, which will be held on the lawns of Jamaica House, will be dubbed "Shaggy and Friends". It will include cocktails, complemented by a performance by myself as the headliner and other artistes in concert.

The purpose of this letter is to provide you with the opportunity and implore you to become a part of the first official staging of the Shaggy&Friends Benefit Concert by offering donations in the form of cash or kind. Your contribution will serve to echo that you and your company are indeed concerned and eager to help Jamaica's youth particularly those who are displaced due to severe illness and poverty.

All proceeds of this event will be in aid of the Bustamante Hospital for Children,

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

With kind regards,

Orville Richard Burrell aka Shaggy
